Just in case you missed Youth Group last night:

The Bible Is NOT Lame

1. The Bible is a collection of books written over 16 centuries with some of the newest books being written over 2000 years ago! It was written by imperfect men from all walks of life; kings, scholars, fishermen, priests, prophets, doctors, farmers, kings but was inspired by God (2 Peter 1:20-21).

2. In the Sunday Morning Sermon Gene summed up the Bible "to become like Him". The Bible is an account of God's action in the world and His purpose for all creation. How can you know these things if you don't read it?

3. When you purchase a new iPod, television, cell phone, video game console, etc do you read the entire manual or do you read just parts of it? Do you read it at all? If you don't, how will you know about all of the awesome features that it has? How will you know how to deal with a problem when it comes along? Are you relying on what you see others do or what others tell you in order to figure everything out? It's the same with the Bible. You need to read it for yourself. All of it.

Top 3 reasons people object to the bible: 1. The Bible is full of contradictions 2. It's irrelevant to these modern times, things have changed/it's old. 3. It's boring

Are any of these your thoughts? Let's talk about it, the conversation is far too important to just type out here.

Romans 15:4 (New International Version) - For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

1 Corinthians 10:11 (New International Version) - These things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the fulfillment of the ages has come.

Non Lame Bible Story of the Day:

2 Kings 3:23-25 From there Elisha went up to Bethel. As he was walking along the road, some youths came out of the town and jeered at him. "Go on up, you baldhead!" they said. "Go on up, you baldhead!" He turned around, looked at them and called down a curse on them in the name of the LORD. Then two bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the youths. And he went on to Mount Carmel and from there returned to Samaria.

Don't you want to know WHY this happened? Would a "lame" book have such a crazy story? It's better than a Saturday Night Live sketch!

Next time I hope you can join us for Sunday night youth group!
